-   The original name for donuts was “oily cakes”

-   The first donut machine was invented in New York City in 1920

-   Donuts did not always have the hole in the center

-   The first Friday in June is National Donut Day

-   May Murray invented the traditional donut in coffee when she accidentally dropped her donut in her coffee. (1934 film It Happened One Night)

-   Dunkin’ Donuts sells the most donuts of any business worldwide. It was founded in 1950 by William Rosenberg in Massachusetts.

-  People will often buy bagels or croissants for breakfast,  thinking they are making the healthier option in avoiding doughnuts, but a glazed donut only has 260 calories, while a croissant has 310 calories.

-  Finally eating donuts is scientifically proven to make you happier.
